What is the Health Benefit Analysis?

The Health Benefit Analysis is a tool for healthcare professionals that aims to promote the health of the population and to optimise the care patients receive. It helps to answer important questions such as:

  • How to improve the health of individual patients or whole populations
  • What should be done to give patients the best possible care

Patient treatment needs are complex and highly individual and perceiving the overall situation is often very challenging. Usually the emphasis in healthcare is on the implementation and monitoring of the treatment prescribed, when instead the focus should be on disease prevention.

Data relating to an individual is not in an identifiable form in the Health Benefit Analysis database, i.e. they are pseudonymised.

Pseudonymised patient IDs can be restored to the patient information system used by the organisation. If there is an opportunity to improve the state of a patient’s health or the safety of care, the patient’s personal data can be restored, but only in the healthcare organisation’s own environment. This requires that the person obtaining personal information has an existing care relationship with the patient.

The Health Benefit Analysis is more than a patient data visualisation tool

Combining patient data and clinical knowledge provides not only case analyses but also recommendations for action.

In addition to the stored structured patient data, the Health Benefit Analysis also makes the clinical data analysed by decision support available to the general population. Risk calculators and the determination of care gap and clinical quality indicators are based on Current Care Guidelines and other sources of the best research data.

Risk calculators

Decision support algorithms calculate the individual risks of a patient based on the patient data provided. These include, for example, the risk of cardiovascular disease, the risk of diabetes and the risk of stroke. The Health Benefit Analysis shows the distributions of risk points at the general population level.

Appropriate treatment options or risk-reducing interventions may be provided to high-risk individuals.

Care gap

Decision support analyses the information it receives from the patient record and produces warnings, reminders, and treatment suggestions. The Health Benefit Analysis tells you for how many people each feedback has been triggered.

Population-level information on missing treatments helps, among other things, direct resources to the implementation of various interventions.

Clinical quality indicators

The quality indicator view shows how many patients belong to the target group of the selected treatment and how many per cent of the patients have been treated according to the treatment recommendations.

The quality indicators included in the decision support parameters can be used to automatically measure the quality of care even in the case of rarer diseases and small patient groups.

Dynamically customisable views allow you to examine patient data from different perspectives.

Views on the state of the health of the population make it possible to present information in graphical form. Views are composed of individual graphs. Search and filtering capabilities allow you to subdivide a group of patients, even down to individual patients if necessary. Developments in treatment can be monitored by regularly updating the information.

The product comes with pre-constructed views that can be customised to take into account the customer’s local environment and needs. In addition to these, an organisation can create its own views.
